A villa entered through a colonnade and stone steps behind a designed boundary wall. The interior is contemporary classical: panelled living rooms under chandeliers, bedrooms with glazed dressing rooms, a gym, marble bathrooms with freestanding tubs, and kitchens opening onto dining.
Contemporary classical work is judged on the detail, not the form: the proportion of a wall panel, the height of a cornice, where a chandelier sits against the axis of a room. Our role was to fix those proportions across every space in the house, because a difference between one room and the next reads immediately.
The language of panelling, cornice and concealed lighting was unified across the reception and living rooms, then the bedrooms were individualised with lit glazed dressing rooms that work as storage and as a wall. The bathrooms were handled in continuous marble surfaces that reduce the number of joints.
Architectural and interior design: entrance, elevation and boundary wall, with reception, living rooms, bedrooms, gym and bathrooms.
